Dry Polishing Concrete

Dry polishing is the process of polishing concrete without the use of water.

Because of the extreme amount of dust produced and the wear grinding causes to the diamond abrasive grinding tools, water is used.  Water helps eliminate the dust as well as cool down the grinding tools.  Water acts as a lubricant to reduce the amount of friction produced with the high RPM polishing machines.  This increases the life of the polishing abrasives, particularly the resin-bonded disks.  The disadvantages of using water is the mess it makes and the lost production time due to the cleanup.

Dry polishing requires no water.  Instead, machines equipped with dust-containment systems grind and polish the concrete flooring surface creating very little dust and using no water.  Advancements in polishing machines as well as the abrasive tools allow the concrete polishing process to be done dry.
