After a sealer is applied to a an acid stained concrete floor, the next and last step before the job is complete is to apply a wax or floor finish.
Although, this product is referred to as a wax, generally the product used is a water-based acrylic copolymer that is applied with a looped-end rayon mop. This product is mopped on the concrete floor in 3-6 thin coats.
Floor finishes are often referred to as sacrificial coatings because they protect the sealer from wear. Not only do floor finishes provide a nice, high-gloss finish but they are very easy to repair if they are scratched or scuffed. Slight buffing and another application of floor finish is all that is required. |
